Get ready for the easiest dairy-free, banana ice cream recipe ever! Our Design Intern, Shea, created this vegan nice cream that’s the perfect sweet treat to whip up on a hot summer day. And the best part? All you need is a blender and three simple ingredients that you likely already have at home!

You can add some crunch with any nuts or granola you have around.

Three simple, healthy ingredients and no refined sugar needed

This banana ice cream tastes incredible, and the ingredients are allergy-friendly and great for you. No dairy means this ice cream is perfect for our lactose intolerant, vegan, and vegetarian friends. On top of that, the base of this ice cream, bananas, are tasty enough to mock the sweetness of traditional ice cream, without adding refined sugar and instead being full of vitamins, fiber, potassium, and other nutrients.

This recipe calls for Willa's Oat Milk, which is made with clean ingredients and the whole entire oat. Using the whole entire oat makes it creamier and keeps all of the protein, fiber and minerals from oat
 intact.

The last ingredient, cinnamon, is one of our favorite combinations with bananas and oat milk. Plus, cinnamon has antioxidants as well as other great
health benefits. After adding your favorite healthy toppings, this recipe is nutritious enough to eat even for breakfast!

The riper the bananas, the better the flavor

This recipe is the perfect way to use up those overripe bananas you left uneaten for a little too long. When a banana is ripening, the starch slowly transforms into sugars, indicated by the appearance of brown spots. So when your bananas are starting to brown, it means they’ve developed natural sugars that make the fruit much more flavorful and delicious.

To freeze your bananas, peel and slice them into smaller pieces. Then place them in a freezer-safe container or tray and freeze overnight or for a couple of hours until hard. For this recipe, it is important that the bananas are completely frozen because they act as the ice or frozen base of this ice cream.

Customize toppings your liking, from crunchy granola to chia seeds

This recipe adds just cinnamon to complement the banana taste, but feel free to have some fun with it and mix in any flavors you love. Toppings and mix-ins are a great opportunity to pack more nutrients and heartiness into your ice cream.

Shea added chia seeds, granola, chocolate chips, and extra banana slices to the top of hers for more flavors and texture. Peanut butter, coconut flakes, and frozen berries are just a few more that would all pair perfectly with this recipe.
