In the colder months, there’s nothing like a warm bowl of soup. We’re fully embracing soup season with this delicious dairy-free Cream of Mushroom Soup! Full of rich, comforting flavor and plenty of nutrients, this has become one of our new favorite cozy recipes.

The best mushrooms in the game

We teamed up with our friends at Smallhold to create this recipe with their Blue Oyster Mushrooms! Our fellow Brooklyn-based brand Smallhold is spreading their love of organic mushrooms to communities all over the country with their beautiful mushroom farms and at-home grow kits. We even grew the Blue Oysters for this recipe with one of their grow kits - we highly recommend these for all mushroom lovers!

Smallhold’s mushrooms are super fresh - especially when you grow them yourself at home. This gives them a far better flavor when compared to typical store-bought mushrooms that endure longer transport times and shelf lives.

Mushrooms are packed with nutrients, making them an incredible superfood! They’re very high in antioxidants like vitamin D and selenium. Antioxidants have been found to have many possible health benefits including heart disease prevention.

Oat milk - the perfect creamy component

We all know Cream of Mushroom soup to be especially rich. This creaminess may seem hard to acheive without dairy, but have no fear! Oat milk can be used in place of dairy milk in most creamy recipes one for one. Dairy-Free Cream of Mushroom Soup


- 1/4 c olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 celery stalks, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- salt & pepper, to taste
- 2 tsp vegan worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 c flour (use chickpea flour if GF)
- 2 lbs Smallhold Blue Oyster mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 c dry white wine
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- 4 c vegetable broth
- 2 c Willa’s Oat Milk (Unsweetened Original or Barista)
- 3/4 c chopped parsley


- Sauté onions, celery, and garlic in olive oil until onions begin to soften.
- Season with salt & pepper.
- Whisk in flour on low heat until flour is cooked.
- Add vegetable broth, worcestershire, wine, mushrooms, and thyme. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add oat milk and simmer for another 5 minutes
- Stir in parsley and serve!
